About
Fero is a modern Italian restaurant located in the northwest corner of the Pizitz Food Hall. The restaurant’s culinary concept is rooted in rustic Italian cuisine, modified with a bit of southern flair. The name Fero (Italian “ferro” meaning “iron”) is an homage to the Iron City. The architecture picks up on this theme, utilizing a minimal palette of blackened steel and raw heartpine reclaimed from the Pizitz Building itself as the dominant material motifs. The main dining room is flanked by two sister bars, one serving food and the other serving drinks. The food bar abuts an open kitchen concept, where patrons can get a first-hand look at the action back stage. The opposing drink bar bends and folds into a welcome desk at the front, and conceals a private dining room behind the back counter drink display. Everything from the custom wood and steel tables, to the industrial cage light fixtures contributes to a space that is fit for heightened contemporary dining, but maintains a warm southern grit.
